AMAX High Availability NAS Cluster
The purpose of HA NAS Cluster is to eliminate the single point of failure. The HA Cluster enables two NAS servers to be configured as an active / active pair. When installed and configured, each NAS Server is able to perform all regular functions as the datasheet states. At the same time, along with another NAS server, it provides high availability for shared storage accessible from both NAS servers. The storage jointly managed via HA Cluster is configured as shared storage. Backup and replication policies can be established to protect the data.
- Prevents storage from becoming a single-point-of-failure
- Dramatically improves business continuity by minimizing storage downtime
Targeting customer: Enterprise IT environment where NAS is the primary storage for mission critical data. Any applications which require high availability storage, for example, server virtualization, cloud computing, database, ecommerce, EMR/EHR etc.
Why is it important?
- Nature of some data dictates that it be "always on" and "always available"
- Gradual shift from predominantly block based access to file based access
- Cost of downtime > cost of high availability
- Shift in business to 24x7 and continuing increase in e-commerce
- Downtime results in:
- loss of revenue
- loss of productivity
- lost transactions
- inaccessibility of data for decision making
- data integrity issues
